The conference brings together professionals and water industry players to share and exchange ideas.


The 20th Africa Water Association (AfWA) International Congress and exhibition is set to take place in Uganda next month.

Hosted by The Government of Uganda, through the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), the four-day event will run from February 24 to 27 at the Kampala Serena hotel under the theme; Breaking new grounds to accelerate access to water and sanitation for all.

The conference, hosted every two years in different African countries, brings together professionals and industry players to share and exchange ideas and recent developments in the water and sanitation sector.

According to NWSC, the 2020 AfWA event is organised to discuss how problems of water scarcity and stress in Africa can be solved through innovations and diplomatic efforts.

The Congress Executive Board settled on Kampala-Uganda to host the 20th AfWA congress at the 19th AfWA congress held in Bamako, Mali in February, 2018.

“Everything is in place and we are very optimistic that the conference will be a big success,” said NWSC official.

The key objectives of the event, among others, includes;

Dr Eng. Silver Mugisha, AfWA Congress President and Managing Director – NWSC will lead the conference.
