The African Solar Industry Association (AFSIA) is launching the 3rd AFSIA Solar Awards. The competition aims to recognise innovations in Africa’s dynamic solar energy sector. The awards will be presented at the Africa Energy Forum (AEF), Africa’s largest energy event, which is being held this year in Brussels, Belgium.
In 2022, the AFSIA Solar Awards are organised around 13 categories including Utility Scale Solar Project of the Year, C&I Solar Project of the Year, Mini Grid Project of the Year, Solar Home System (SHS) Provider of the Year, Productive Use Application of the Year, African Solar Company of the Year and Solar Entrepreneur or SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) of the Year.
AFSIA Solar Awards
The competition is organised by the African Solar Industry Association (AFSIA) with a jury of industry professionals and journalists. The awards will be presented at the Africa Energy Forum (AEF), Africa’s biggest energy event, which takes place from 21 to 24 June 2022 in Brussels, Belgium.
“The AFSIA Solar Awards aim to recognise and celebrate companies and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the promotion and advancement of the use of solar in Africa in all its diversity,” says AFSIA.
Applications opened on 21 March and will close on 13 May 2022. The most innovative solutions or companies will be announced at the live awards ceremony on 23 June 2022. During the second edition (in 2021) of the AFSIA Solar Awards, several players in the solar energy sector won awards. This is the case for investors InfraCo Africo and Sunfunder. The Engie Equatorial joint venture (Engie Energy Access and Equatorial Power) was awarded in the category of Solar Mini Grid Project of the Year. Ignite Power was also awarded the SHS provider of the year.
