Davis & Shirtliff, a leading supplier of water related equipment in the East African has entered a partnership with American company DOW Water Technologies to develop a range of Ultrafiltration systems designed to purify surface water supplies in the region. The partnership also has other international partners involved.
In a statement, Davis & Shirtliff technical director Philip Holi said that the systems have been received quite well in the regional market and have already become quite popular with customers.
Davis & Shirtliff is a regional distributor of high quality equipment sourced from several industry leading companies from around the world. It also manufactures and assembles various water related products.
The emerging technology is aimed at ensuring nature’s water contaminated with chemicals, pesticides; human and animal wastes can be filtered through a membrane with tiny pores much smaller than that used by sand filtration technology.
The technology aids in the removal of suspended matter, bacteria and most viruses and it can purify water to be virtually free of pathogens and turbidity without the need for disinfectants such as chlorine.
Mr. Holi further said that the launch of these products gives the water treatment sector in East Africa a direct access to the powerful water treatment technology which is cost-effective and viable.
