LifeSaver water tanks to deliver safe water across Africa

Water purification expert, LifeSaver, is initializing a huge project to distribute LifeSaver water tanks – for safe drinking water – to people across Africa.

LifeSaver, a UK based company, produces a range of state-of-the-art tanks and filters, which filters bacteria and viruses to a minimum of 99.9 per cent. The LifeSaver filtration technology purifies unreliable municipal water supplies, rainwater, water taken directly from lakes, rivers, ponds, and even muddy puddles.

The LifeSaver water tanks project will see safe drinking water provided at schools, medical facilities and religious centres in Kenya, South Africa and Tanzania. About nine different locations will benefit from the LifeSaver water tanks with deliveries expected to take place in August and September.

The firm has teamed up with African Aqua Solutions for the rollout. LifeSaver already has products in Mozambique, South Sudan, Ghana and Senegal.

According to Wesley Clarke-Sullivan, Humanitarian and Disaster Response Manager at Icon LifeSaver Ltd, they wanted as many people to access clean water as possible.

“We’re immensely proud of LifeSaver’s ability to provide clean, safe, drinkable water in regions where such supplies are limited or contaminated,” he said.

“We look forward to seeing the impact that a clean water supply has in these places. We are committed to working with governments and organisations around the world to give as many people as we can access to clean water, and this project is the latest in our mission to deliver that.”

The covid-19 pandemic outbreak has emphasized the importance of clean water for drinking and washing. For communities who have to cover miles to access their nearest safe water source, social distancing measures are impossible to implement.

The LifeSaver tanks have already helped to break a cholera outbreak under control in Mozambique.

James Taylor, marketing director at African Aqua Solutions expressed enthusiasm about partnering with LifeSaver once again in an effort to bring clean drinking water to communities in Africa.

“We aim to expand on our End the Walk for Water campaign by including healthcare and religious facilities to our scope,” he said.
