Following the earlier announcement of pre-qualified firms for Noor Midelt II in July 2023, The Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (Masen) is now initiating the prequalification process to select a private partner responsible for financing, constructing, and operating the groundbreaking Noor Midelt III Project.
Noor Midelt III is projected to have a photovoltaic solar capacity of approximately 400 MW, accompanied by a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a storage capacity of about 400 MWh. This innovative design is strategically aimed at significantly integrating renewable energies, with a particular focus on addressing peak demand within the national power system.

Noor Midelt III
Structured under Project Financing, Noor Midelt III aims to enhance the involvement of the private sector in the deployment of renewable energy. It also seeks extensive participation from both domestic and international commercial banks for funding. Through the progressive implementation of the Noor Midelt I, II, and III projects, the Midelt region is set to become home to one of the world’s largest solar complexes, boasting a combined installed capacity of approximately 1600 MW.
This substantial advancement aligns with Morocco’s ambitious objective of achieving a renewable energy-oriented electricity mix, targeting a minimum of 52% renewable capacity by 2030. Companies and consortia interested in taking part in this initiative are encouraged to access the prequalification document through the provided link.
The deadline for submitting applications is scheduled for Friday, October 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Moroccan time. This progressive step underscores Morocco’s steadfast dedication to a sustainable energy transformation. The Noor Midelt III Project is poised to make a significant contribution to Morocco’s renewable energy goals and to the global transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
