Ethiopia is set to have a 300MW windfarm constructed. This follows a deal sealed with AMEA Power, a renewable energy company based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The agreements were signed in the presence of Ethiopia’s Finance Minister, Ahmed Shide, and senior officials from both Ethiopia and the UAE, with the Minister highlighting the project’s alignment with Ethiopia’s national energy policy and its commitment to green energy.

Aysha-1 project
The implementation agreement was signed by Finance Minister Ahmed Shide and Hussain Al Nowais, Chairman of AMEA Power. Additionally, a power purchase agreement was finalized between the President of AMEA Power and the CEO of Ethiopian Electric Power, Ashebir Balcha. Under this 25-year agreement, the power generated by the wind farm will be sold to Ethiopian Electric Power.
AMEA Power with an with an investment of approximately US $620M, will develop, invest in, construct, own, and operate the wind farm through its subsidiary, AMENA Power Aysha Wind One PLC. The project is seen as a crucial step in Ethiopia’s energy diversification and commitment to sustainable development, meeting international environmental standards.
Hussain Al Nowais emphasized the significance of the dubbed Aysha-1 project for AMEA Power and reiterated the company’s commitment to working closely with the local community and stakeholders as part of the energy transition. AMEA Power continues to expand its clean energy portfolio, which currently exceeds 6,000 MW across 20 countries.
