Egypt is seeking to strengthen cooperation with ADNOC Drilling as part of its strategy to increase domestic oil and gas production, following discussions between Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi and ADNOC Drilling Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Ateya Al Messabi.
The meeting focused on potential strategic partnerships and ADNOC Drilling’s participation in Egypt’s expanded onshore and offshore drilling programme, which forms a key component of the country’s efforts to raise crude oil and natural gas output. Badawi said increased drilling activity remains a central pillar of the ministry’s five-year plan to enhance energy production. The strategy includes intensifying exploration activities, accelerating the development of new discoveries, increasing drilling rates, and deploying advanced technologies and technical solutions across the sector.

Egypt’s production objectives
The minister highlighted ADNOC Drilling’s expertise in well-drilling operations and its advanced technological capabilities, noting that the company’s experience could support Egypt’s production growth objectives. He added that the country’s expanding drilling and field development opportunities provide a platform for greater collaboration with international and regional drilling service providers.
For its part, ADNOC Drilling expressed interest in expanding its footprint in Egypt through closer cooperation with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and its affiliated companies. Al Messabi said the company is keen to contribute to Egypt’s drilling programme and support efforts aimed at increasing hydrocarbon production.
He also underscored the importance of collaboration with the Egyptian Drilling Company (EDC), citing its extensive experience in drilling oil and gas wells both within Egypt and internationally. The two sides agreed to hold a series of technical meetings in the coming months to assess potential areas of cooperation and determine how ADNOC Drilling could participate in the country’s targeted drilling programme.
ADNOC Drilling, a subsidiary of the UAE’s state-owned energy giant ADNOC Group, provides drilling and well-services solutions for both onshore and offshore oil and gas operations across the region.
