The government of Kenya has inaugurated the Wilo East Africa Assembling plant in Nairobi. The country’s Water Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome launched the plant together with Wilo Group, a global technology conglomerate renowned for providing top-tier pumps and pump systems for building services, water management, and the industrial sector, established the facility.
CS Wahome emphasized the vital role of the private sector in supplementing governmental and other stakeholder initiatives. She expressed optimism that the introduction of such assembling plants would be a transformative factor in enhancing water management efficiency.

Impacts
CS Wahome also highlighted the positive impact of collaborations with companies like Wilo on Kenya’s water services sector. Not only does such collaboration revolutionize water services, but it also spurs economic growth and job creation.
The Wilo Group is already engaged in a partnership with Nakuru water service providers, focusing on an ongoing energy performance project. Through the replacement of outdated pumps, this initiative aims to substantially lower the energy expenses of the utility provider, resulting in cost savings that can be redirected toward further enhancements in water infrastructure and services.
Moreover, CS Wahome praised the establishment of a training center within the Wilo East Africa Assembling plant. This training center will provide young Kenyans and East Africans with opportunities to access training and skill development programs, fostering a skilled workforce for the water sector.
