Vacuum Pumps manufacturer Edwards Vacuum has developed a series of innovative liquid ring pumps for use in wet, humid and corrosive conditions.
The ELRI series, single-stage, total recovery vacuum pumps are proven technology and intelligence in a cleverly engineered package. Built to last, the reliability and low maintenance of these pumps offer the best solution when it comes to pumping wet gases or particulates.
Meghan Ajmal, Edwards Vacuum rough vacuum product manager, says the new vacuum pumps products offers a variety of features and benefits.
Other than the ability to optimise processes to save energy, ELRi pump’s technical features makes it highly resilient against corrosion and harsh process gases. The stainless-steel impeller, endplates, liquid reservoir and heat exchanger are vital technologies in this new development.
The internal injection channels and mechanical seals provide a stable sealing arrangement that reduces the risk of leakage. Stainless steel impellers and end plates are supplied as standard and the integrated non-return valve protects against back flow.

In addition, the horizontal motor flange arrangement saves precious time on maintenance. The anti-cavitation algorithm prevents the ELRi from operating in areas of cavitation, which increases the pump lifetime.
All this high-quality technology is contained in a compact noise cancelling sturdy canopy protecting and extending lifetime of the electronic components, says Ajmal.
Additionally, the ELRi is equipped with twin variable-speed drives (VSDs). The first VSD motor with set point control maintains and matches required vacuum levels while the second VSD for the water circulation pump optimises water flow and maintains stable vacuum.
The ELRi series covers a wide range of applications in central vacuum, pharmaceutical, plastics, conveying and food applications. It comes in pumping capacities of 750 to 1 050 m3/h.
Ajmal points out that, while the standard range of pumps is a perfect solution for general industrial applications, the heavy-duty range is designed with all process wetted parts to be stainless steel.
