Scope of work

The project is being supported by the Moroccan Ministry of Public Works and Water, as well as the Ministry of the Interior. A financing agreement has been signed with the municipality of Larache and the autonomous water and electricity distribution agency of the Larache prefecture (Radeel).

Works on the development will include renovation and expansion of the liquid sewerage network in the town of Larache. This step aims to mitigate aquatic environment pollution and safeguard the health of individuals who rely on these environments for their livelihoods.

Channels will be constructed for the collection and conveyance of wastewater to two forthcoming treatment plants. These treatment plants will be located in the Laouamra and La Côte councils within the Larache Division. The treated effluent will subsequently be reintroduced into the natural environment.

The development is expected to be operational by 2026. This timeline aims to expedite the completion of the overall National Liquid Sanitation and Wastewater Treatment Programme (PNA) by meeting its objectives by 2030.
