Construction works on the Msenge wind farm project in South Africa is set to commence. This follows a reached financial close between Aced-Ideas-Reatile Consortium with its lender Rand Merchant Bank.
The consortium is made up of African Infrastructure Investment Managers’ (AIIM) IDEAS fund and Reatile Renewables. AIIM has a 62% stake in the project, while Reatile has the remaining 38%. The Msenge Wind Farm is the first of several renewables projects that the consortium intends to bring into construction in 2023.

Msenge wind farm
The power project involves development of a 69 MW windfarm near the town of Bedford, in the Eastern Cape. The project will supply renewable energy to Sasol’s Sasolburg site. Sasol and Msenge’s PPA is the first of several agreements the company plans to finalize in the months ahead. ACED will manage construction. Another AIIM affiliate, Energy Infrastructure Management Services (EIMS), will handle operations.
Sasol said previously that the renewable energy generated by Msenge would enable Sasol to produce green hydrogen that could be supplied to customers to enable them to decarbonise their operations or will be utilised within Sasol’s own operations to produce sustainable products such as ammonia or methanol.
