PT Pertamina and Guma Africa Group have sealed a partnership through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that to establish a strategic alliance for potential projects in oil and gas sector in Africa.
The President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, confirmed the report and said the MoU strengthens the collaboration between Indonesia and Africa, which was initially established through a government-to-government (G-to-G) agreement in August this year.

Expansion benefits
The signing ceremony which took palce at Grha Pertamina was attended by A. Salyadi Saputra, Director of Strategy, Portfolio, and Business Development of Pertamina, and Robert Gumede, Executive Chairman of the Guma Africa Group Limited, with Nicke Widyawati, President Director of Pertamina, as a witness.
Both parties aim to capitalize on opportunities to promote economic growth and enhance energy security in both Indonesia and Africa. The collaboration is aligned with the goal of ensuring that Pertamina’s overseas expansion benefits Indonesia, contributing to the nation’s energy security and prosperity.
The collaboration covers several African countries, including Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, and South Africa. It encompasses various aspects of the oil and gas sector, including exploration, processing, and renewable energy sources like geothermal. The total potential investment in this collaboration is estimated to be approximately US $2.6bn.
“We appreciate Indonesian government’s support, which has allowed Pertamina to build a strong track record over the past 5-10 years. The company hopes to leverage its expertise and experience gained in Indonesia for projects in Africa,” said Widyawati.
