TotalEnergies and Hutchinson have inked a partnership deal for a solar energy project in Morocco. The collaboration aims to reduce Hutchinson’s environmental footprint while enhancing energy efficiency, aligning with Morocco’s broader renewable energy goals.

TotalEnergies is leveraging its expertise to help businesses like Hutchinson transition to greener practices. This partnership exemplifies the company’s commitment to enabling sustainable energy transformation for its clients while aligning with Morocco’s vision for a clean energy future.

The development will feature a 1.7 MWp solar capacity, with 2,850 high-performance photovoltaic (PV) modules, expected to generate approximately 2,590 MWh of clean energy annually. Morocco has established itself as a regional leader in renewable energy investments and projects. The country’s focus on sustainability has attracted global partnerships, reducing reliance on energy imports and driving its green transition.

Mission

Morocco aims to achieve 52% of its energy production from renewable sources by 2030. The country’s energy sector is shifting towards renewable energy sources, but fossil fuels still dominate the country’s energy mix

Recent highlights include the Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index (RECAI), which ranks Morocco as a top African country in renewable energy development. Projections indicate that Morocco will bring over 1 GW of renewable energy capacity online annually from 2023 to 2027.

Notable Renewable Energy Projects in Morocco include; Xlinks Morocco-UK Power Project, a $20 billion subsea interconnector that will deliver 11.5 GW of zero-carbon electricity from Moroccan solar and wind farms to the UK, supplying 3.6 GW of reliable energy for 19 hours daily.
