Tunisia launches tender for Korba and Haouria wastewater treatment plants

The National Sanitation Office (ONAS) in Tunisia has launched a tender for the renovation of the Korba and El Haouria wastewater treatment plants.

The projects situated in the governorate of Nabeul, aims to enhance sanitation infrastructure and services in these areas to benefit the local population and protect the environment and is part of phase I of the sanitation program for small towns with fewer than 10,000 inhabitants (PAPC-I).

This program will involve connecting 33 municipalities in 19 governorates to the sanitation network and improving living conditions and environmental health. The work will include rehabilitating and building sewerage infrastructure, such as primary and secondary networks, transfer networks, pumping stations, and treatment plants.

Firm’s role

The selected company for the Korba plant will be responsible for refurbishing the electronic pre-treatment equipment and performing civil engineering maintenance and repair of the pre-treatment works at the wastewater treatment plant.

The work at the El Haouaria treatment plant will be more extensive and includes the construction and equipping of a pre-treatment unit, a new pumping station for treated wastewater, as well as the supply and laying of pipes for treated wastewater and effluent. This is a significant infrastructure development project.

The sewerage program is being financed by ONAS with the support of the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Interested companies have until December 19, 2023, to apply for the tender.
