German pumps and pump systems manufacturer, Wilo Group, has re-launched in Nairobi, Kenya, with an assembly plant to serve the larger East African region.

This is a great expansion milestone in less than 5 years since Wilo’s first official office opening ceremony in 2018,

affirming commitment by the sustainability leader in addressing the vast water concerns in the region through modern technologies.

Wilo Group has maintained its’s brand promise, “Pioneering for You” by being the first water pumps and pump systems manufacturer to establish the first in-its-kind test bench facility in East Africa.

This is the ISO 9906 Grade 1B test bench with the capacity to confirm a pump’s rate of flow up to 600 m3/hour, head generated up to 300 meters with power consumption of up to 75kw.

“We would not be able to make any significant contribution to sustainable development if we continued to offer solutions the same way in the region. This facility gives us strength to offer several Wilo solutions locally, and in addition to having the capacity to offer witness testing locally according to the International Organization for Standardization, we will also create more opportunities for the youth in the region through jobs, certified trainings, and seminars,” Belete Matebe, Managing Director Wilo East Africa, said during a launch event on Thursday.

Wilo East Africa will house a training centre within the assembly plant in partnership with the Wilo Academy to offer trainings, seminars and workshops to industry line practitioners and students.

Wilo East Africa and Kenya Water Institute (KEWI) are in discussion to create special certified programmes for students on pump selection and digitalization, as well as tailor make school competitions to motivate learners to adopt innovation within the water sector.

Wilo is therefore now ready to assemble booster sets, end suction pumps, firefighting pumps, control panels and borehole pumps amongst other applications, while exporting from Nairobi to other neighboring countries.

Through this advancement the multinational technology company will also be able to tailor make solutions in Water and Sanitation (WASH) such as water kiosks, mini cubes, aqua cubes, water kiosks and the Portable Aqua Unit for Lifesaving (PAUL) backpack for communities that lack access to clean drinking water.

Wilo’s passion in developing both innovative products and holistic solutions for everything to do with water has led to significant contribution through the supply of Wilo pumps and pumping systems to high rising buildings in Nairobi such as Central Bank of Kenya Towers, Imaara Mall and BBS Mall -the largest mall in East Africa today, among many other plans including affordable housing projects within Kenya.

Wilo East Africa has other reference projects especially in Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Sudan for all the various applications.
