Mena Desalination Projects Forum
The forum which will serve as a platform for over 400 regional and international stakeholders, from all over the world, including Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco, is slated to discuss the future of water desalination in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region. Discussions will focus on various topics such as unlocking investment opportunities in desalination, brine extraction, zero liquid discharge, underwater desalination, and the progress and future trends in sustainable desalination technologies.
These discussions will be organized into thematically grouped round tables, allowing experts to delve into specific issues and potential solutions. One of the key points of concern to be highlighted during the forum is the significant energy consumption associated with water desalination and its environmental impacts, including thermal pollution caused by the discharge of brine into the ocean.
The forum will also serve as a crucial platform for industry stakeholders to collaborate, share knowledge, and define best practices for ensuring water security in the region amidst ongoing drought challenges. Given these challenges, there is a concerted effort to explore technological advancements that could lead to more sustainable desalination practices.
