RentCo’s initiative in the Olkaria geothermal field aims to increase its power generation capacity by 67MW through a combination of flash and ORC power plant technologies. This effort is crucial for Kenya, which is a significant player in global geothermal power capacity, currently ranking 6th and poised to join the 1GW club of geothermal power producers.

Exergy’s involvement extends beyond equipment supply; they will also provide comprehensive technical expertise in geothermal binary power plant design and maintenance. This partnership underscores Exergy’s commitment to leveraging their technology and experience to support clean energy transitions across Africa, thereby enhancing electricity access and sustainability.

The announcement coincides with the conclusion of the Kenya Geothermal Congress in Nairobi, highlighting the growing importance of geothermal energy in Kenya’s renewable energy strategy. Exergy’s General Manager, Luca Pozzoni, expressed optimism about the collaboration, emphasizing its potential to drive positive outcomes for renewable energy development in Kenya and broader African regions. Likewise, Erdogan Arpaci, Exergy Turkey’s General Manager overseeing African market development, underscored the agreement’s culmination as a testament to Exergy’s strategic efforts and longstanding relationships in East Africa.
