Technip Energies, alongside JGC Holdings and Samsung Heavy Industries, has secured a major engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) contract for the Coral Norte floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project offshore Mozambique. The contract was awarded by Mozambique Rovuma Venture for the Coral Norte FLNG development in Mozambique’s Area 4 offshore gas block.
Developed by Eni and its partners China National Petroleum Corporation, Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos, XRG and Korea Gas Corporation, the Coral Norte FLNG facility is expected to produce approximately 3.6 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG. The addition of Coral Norte will double the Coral hub’s total production capacity to around 7 mtpa, strengthening Mozambique’s position among Africa’s leading LNG producers.

Coral Norte’s design
According to Technip Energies, the contract together with previously announced agreements linked to the project represents a “major” award, defined by the company as contracts generating more than US $1.5bn in revenue. The award was booked in the company’s Project Delivery segment during the second quarter of 2026.
Coral Norte has been designed as an enhanced replica of the Coral Sul FLNG project, Mozambique’s first floating LNG development. The replication strategy is intended to improve execution certainty and operational performance by leveraging similarities in gas composition and offshore conditions, while incorporating engineering and integration lessons learned from Coral Sul. Technip Energies Chief Executive Officer Arnaud Pieton said the project highlights the confidence of Eni and its partners in the company’s FLNG delivery capabilities and the operational performance of Coral South FLNG.
He noted that the company’s “design one, build many” approach is aimed at accelerating large-scale offshore LNG developments through a standardized delivery model that supports faster deployment, reduced project risk and improved predictability. The Coral Norte development also underscores the growing momentum behind floating LNG projects globally as energy companies seek flexible and faster solutions to monetize offshore gas reserves while diversifying LNG supply sources amid ongoing global energy security concerns.
