Multi-million mega dam set for construction in Ethiopia

A multi-million mega dam is set for construction in Ethiopia, in the Tigray region, bordering Eritrea and Sudan. Ethiopia will build the mega water project and rehabilitate new irrigation facilities to the tune of US$140 million. The dam will be 57 meters high and 2.54 km long.

The Ethiopian government estimates that the facilities will enable the irrigation of 10,000 hectares of plantations, benefiting 20,000 farmers in the region.

The dam which is named Kaza dam together with the irrigation project will be developed by three companies that have already been selected by The Ethiopian Irrigation Development Commission. They include; Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation, Sur Construction and Afar Water Works Construction Enterprise.
