Requirements

Applicants will need to formulate their research topics based on one of the nine themes provided in the call for applications. These themes cover various aspects of water and sanitation, including non-revenue water reduction, water quality control, urban sanitation, and climate change resilience, among others.

Applicants must be citizens of sub-Saharan African countries eligible for funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), as AfriCap is funded by USAID. The list of scholarship recipients for the 2024-2025 academic year will be published by June 15, 2024.

The research work conducted by scholarship recipients will be compiled into scientific reports. These reports can be utilized by stakeholders in the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector for project implementation and by governments for policy development.

This initiative presents a valuable opportunity for African students and engineers to contribute to addressing critical challenges in water and sanitation, ultimately driving progress and development in the region.
