The government of Ghana has commissioned the first phase of the Ghana Bridge Power Project. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo inaugurated the 200MW plant located at Kpone, near Tema, marking a significant milestone in Ghana’s pursuit of energy security and sustainable development.
This project is the first phase of a 515MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant, a collaboration among Endeavour Energy Limited, General Electric (GE) Vernova, and Ghanaian partner Andaris Energy, with a total investment of US $1.2bn.
President Akufo-Addo highlighted the project as a transformative initiative, essential for driving Ghana’s economic growth and providing reliable power to support industrial, healthcare, and educational advancements. The plant underscores Ghana’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge solutions for its energy needs.

Power Purchase Agreement
Phase two of the combined cycle gas turbine power plant, which will have an output of 315MW, is expected to start in September next year, with a 48-month construction schedule to pave the way for commercial operations in September 2029.
The project is a partnership between Endeavor Energy, a U.S.-based independent power producer focused on Africa and Andaris Energy Limited, a wholly owned Ghanaian company. Endeavor Energy, backed by Denham Capital, has invested significantly in Ghana’s energy sector, including the Amandi TCE Power Plant. Stage 1, costing US $611M, was funded entirely by sponsors and lenders.
The plant will operate under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), backed by a Put Call Option Agreement (PCOA) with the Government of Ghana. GE Vernova will provides a 25-year service agreement and cutting-edge Asset Performance Management (APM) software to enhance the plant’s reliability and efficiency, ensuring long-term performance.
Upon completion, the project strengthens Ghana’s energy infrastructure, supporting industrial growth and enhancing energy reliability by reducing carbon emissions and increasing fuel efficiency.
