Scope of MoUs
Under the first agreement, SONATRACH subsidiary ENAGEO will collaborate with SONIDEP on seismic data processing activities across Niger. The second MoU, signed between SONATRACH subsidiary ENAFOR and SONIDEP, provides for the establishment of a joint venture to undertake oil and gas drilling operations in Niger.
A third agreement was signed between SONATRACH subsidiary NAFTAL and SONIDEP to cooperate on petroleum product distribution, the development of filling centers, and training initiatives. The partnership also предусматривает the creation of a joint venture focused on the manufacturing, formulation, distribution, and storage of bitumen.
The agreements build on an earlier MoU signed by SONATRACH and SONIDEP in October 2024 and reflect broader efforts by Algeria and Niger to deepen economic ties and expand long-term strategic cooperation in the energy sector. The latest developments also follow agreements signed in February 2025 by Algeria, Niger, and Nigeria to advance the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline. Those agreements covered feasibility studies, cost-sharing arrangements, and cooperation among the participating energy companies.
